Born to Run

September 26th, 2011

Lately I had a pleasure to read “Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen” by Christopher McDougall. I must admit I did not like the book at first, perhaps because I am use to more technical books, manuals and similar. I had expectation (I actually don’t know why :-) ) that this book will teach me something, give some tips, etc. And instead it was more entertaining, full of interesting stories and in the background one could spot things I was initially looking for.

However the longer I read the more interesting it was, so all in all I was satisfied, entertained and also got some pointers where to look for more specific information regarding effortless and injury-free running (i.e. evolution running, POSE, chi running).

Speed climbing

August 21st, 2011

Lately I watched again a short, beautiful clip from the speed climb of the (in)famous Eiger’s north face. It took Ueli Steck mind-blowing 2h 47m in 2008. This year (2011) this record was beaten by Daniel Arnold, who was faster by 19m. Incredible performance.
