Disability redefined

aimeeAimee Mullins was born without fibular bones, and had both of her legs amputated below the knee when she was an infant. She learned to walk on prosthetics, then to run — competing at the national and international level as a champion sprinter, and setting world records at the 1996 Paralympics in Atlanta. She never gave up, she got stronger and now she can motivate other people!

Find out more about this amazing person in her three moving talks (at TED) on: running (0:20:47), her 12 pairs of legs (0:10:02) and the recent one on the opportunity of adversity (0:21:58), where she redefines disability.

Disable, (verb). To crash a spirit, to withdraw hope, to deflate curiosity, to promote an inability to see beauty, to deprive of imagination. To make abject. Ant. To make poss-able.
