Meaning game

April 27th, 2011

sunI think this is a very nice game proposed by Brian Johnson to get rid of stress by finding alternative meanings to stressful situations:

  • Create a spectrum from 1 to 10.
  • 1 being the worst way you could view it,
  • 10 being the most positive way you could view it.
  • First, rate your current perspective 1-10 and
  • then see if you can gradually get to 10! :-)

A man is literally what he thinks

Man cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances… from As a Man Thinketh: The Classic Manual on Shaping Your Mind by James Allen (1864-1912). The book explains the law of attraction: men do not attract what they want, but what they are. Due to expired copyrights the book is available to the public free of charge. You may read it or listen to it on-line. The 10 minutes video by Brian Johnson can give you an impression of the book, as well as the philosophers notes.

The 1st of January seems to be a good day for making new visions and setting new goals. We wish you peaceful, joyful and conscious new year 2011!

Philosophers Notes

December 14th, 2010

Philosophers Notes is a service provided by Brian Johnson, where you can find 100 of the top personal growth books… ever: from old school classics to modern self-development, tap into the wisdom that matters. There are some books we’ve already read and some we have on our to-read list. :-) He provides summaries in a form of 10-minutes videos, 30-minutes podcasts and 6-page PDF notes, thus you can select the medium that serves you best. The service is paid, but you can get a sample of 3 books for free. And if money is an issue for you, you can ask him for a scholarship and get all 100 notes for free. For me it is a good way to get an initial impression of a book or to recall its content. And after going though 14% of notes I am still convinced about it. Recently, Brian Johnson published a book with the same title but different content, to check it look inside the book .
