Looking for more focus in life I try to be more present during various activities. Lately I found yet another exercise which requires more attention than it usually gets: taking shower
It struck me that the way I take shower is always the same, almost automatic. The result is that my mind is totally unoccupied, so it uses free resources to jump around from one thought to another and it is very difficult to become mindful. Focusing attention becomes a lot easier if I break the routine and change order of soaping my body and later the order I rinse off the soap.
This makes plain taking shower a completely new experience. A mindful experience.
It takes exact the same amount of time and I can learn something about my body, for example how does it feel to feel drops of water on different body parts.

ratings & reviews ratings & reviews Total immersion caused the biggest breakthrough in my swimming! I discovered a different dimension of swimming. It became even more enjoyable, effortless and mindful. If I had gills I would feel like a fish. In our opinion it can help to improve swimming skills regardless of your initial level and we are an evidence of it. There are many resources on total immersion: books, DVDs, courses and on-line videos (on the Swiss web page).
